North Wales Clinical School

Clinical Education at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, St Asaph

Opportunities after graduation

  • Since significant numbers of medical students began to train in North Wales, 90% of junior doctor posts are now filled by Cardiff University graduates (compared to 1999 when the number of placements was very small and all the Trusts had great difficulty in filling these posts).  It would therefore seem that students who come to North Wales for one of their clinical attachments like what they see and tend to return for an FY1 post.
  • Ysbyty Glan Clwyd has a superbly equipped postgraduate education centre on site, with facilities greatly enhanced by the North Wales Clinical School.
  • Good quality accommodation and a Doctors’ Mess with an active social committee.
  • An excellent library, recently expanded to improve electronic facilities
  • Access to the hospital gym in the evening.
