    • In the city centre of Bangor you'll find the longest High Street in Wales.  The centre has all the facilities students would expect from a University city:   theatre, multi-screen cinema, night clubs, shops including high street branded stores, shops selling food from all over the world, a wide range of restaurants and eating places offering cuisine from e.g. India, China and Italy.  All of this as well as popular student pubs and take-aways.
    • Bangor has its very own Victorian Pier which was built in 1896 and lovingly restored in the 1980s. It stretches halfway across the Menai Straits and is surrounded by traditional pubs and restaurants. The pier is a popular spot for students to revise when the sun’s out in summer.
    • The area around Bangor has many attractions.  Anglesey is one of the most popular destinations in North Wales and because it’s an island there’s the added bonus of never being too far from the sea. There are plenty of sand-kissed beaches to choose from so when the sun is smiling, it’s ideal for a spot of sunbathing.   Anglesey is also a popular spot for surfers.  One of the villages on the island that has the longest name in Britain:  Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch.  Anglesey is also the gateway to Ireland and day trips are easy. The high speed ferry means that the joys of Dublin are less than two hours away from Holyhead.
    • The Snowdonia National Park is a haven for those who appreciate natural beauty.  The park covers 25 miles of national treasure with picnic spots and attractions.  The village of Llanberis is at the heart of the park with stunning lakes and scenery.  If you fancy a challenge bring your walking boots with you and climb from here to the summit of Mount Snowdon – the highest peak in England and Wales.  If walking up sounds too arduous, there’s always the easy way up via the Snowdon Mountain Railway.
    • The nearby towns of Caernarfon and Llandudno have plenty to offer including a buzzing nightlife and plenty of popular restaurants and attractions.  The royal town of Caernarfon is around 8 miles from Bangor and is worth a visit even if it’s just to see its famous castle.  Llandudo which is around 15 miles from Bangor is a holiday hotspot for tourists and a favourite with locals to do a spot of shopping.
    • The Roman city Chester with its excellent shopping facilities is just over an hour away by car or train from Bangor.
